Olive Oil

My husband and I have been having a "discussion" about olive oil for quite a few weeks now. When I cook I want to use EVOO (extra virgin olive oil). But he doesn't want to pay the extra money for it because he cant find any differences between Extra Virgin and regular Olive Oil.

So I am needing to know... what is the difference between EVOO and OO? I am hoping to be able to win this little argument here... so help me out!

Yummy!

Since Zachariah's 1st birthday is coming up, I have been doing come cake/cupcake browsing. In the midst of my browsing, I found these cupcakes... and as a Super Mario fan, I thought this was very cute/clever!

A bit late...

I am a little late with this weeks update on Americas Got Talent. So I apologize. But somehow I think that everyone made it just fine. :) Anyway, this week there were two acts that I thought were pretty good. The first is an Ozzy impersonator... which I usually find annoying. But Sharon was actually pretty impressed. So if you can be good enough to impress the guys wife, I think you deserve to move on. The second group is called The Cadence. And I LOVED them. Not just because their group has a freaking awesome name... but because they are so cool. (go to the 50 second mark to skip the intro)

There were two singers that made it through... this woman who had a touching story (and I thought she could sing pretty good), and then a soldier who had been in Iraq. But I honestly didnt think either one of them was anything special. Oh well. Next week is a 2 hour show where all the contestants compete, then they narrow it down to 40 contestants. Then the real fun starts.

Dirty Little Secrets

I recently finished the book that Daniel got me for my birthday, "Dirty Little Secrets from Otherwise Perfect Moms". The authors of the book interviewed hundreds of moms, and in this book are their true confessions... the dirty little secrets from motherhood. Needless to say, it is very entertaining. Since I have only been a mother for 10 months, I don't have a ton of these dirty little secrets about motherhood, but I can totally imagine myself doing what some of these mothers confess to doing. There is a good combination of sweet, funny, and thoughtful Dirty Little Secrets, and there is definitely something in here that every mother can relate too.

Here are a few of the confessions from the book:

My kids don't wear pj's on weeknights. They go to bed in their school clothes so I don't have to fight with them about their outfits in the morning.

I threw away my birth control pills... and he doesn't know.

Some nights when my husband and I go to bed, I roll over and "play dead". All I can think is "I just cant handle it if one more person pokes me today."

We were in the grocery store and when we hit the wine aisle, she screamed, "That's Mommy's juice!"

I look at every mother and assume they're a much better mother than I am.

I threw out a pair of shoes my daughter loved and told her I couldn't find them.

I want to smack the mom who says, "You only have one child?"

I had to lock myself in my car to make a conference call while my kids screamed and banged on the windows outside.

So now that you get the gist of the book, I want to know one of your dirty little secrets. Yeah, that's right. You are actually going to have to comment. And if you dont, I will go on strike and never blog again (harrumph).

So whether your a new mommy or an experienced mommy, I want to hear from you (and you may feel free to make it anonymous if you wish)! Or heck, if your not a mommy and you know someone else's dirty little secret, feel free to share!

Here, I will start:
Once I had to put my sons highchair in the doorway of the bathroom to feed him lunch, because I had the runs and couldn't stay off the toilet for more than 30 seconds at a time.

There, I said it. Now its your turn.
What is your Dirty Little Secret?

Fun age!

Zachariah is at such a fun stage in his life. I am enjoying him so much more recently. He isnt a "baby blob" that just eats and poops anymore. He is mobile(therefore less clingy), he is more perceptive that I ever thought a baby should be, his personality is coming out like crazy, he loves to play with his toys (even by himself!), he is smiling and laughing all the time, and he is trying his darnedest (how the heck to you spell that?) to carry on conversations- in baby language of course.

Along with all of the other perks of this fun age, Zachariah and I have developed a new morning routine that I have come to look forward to. Every morning after breakfast, I will turn on a Baby Einstein DVD while Zachariah plays with his toys. As soon as he sees me sitting on the couch he will crawl on over, and put his hands in the air for me to pick him up. Then we will snuggle on the couch for 20-30 minuets watching his movie. It is the cutest thing ever. He is so cuddly during that time, and I absolutely love it.

Here is a picture of us watching Baby Einsteins yesterday... in our PJ's of course. So excuse the horrid I-just-woke-up-and-haven't-showered-or-applied-any-makeup look that I am so wonderfully sporting.

Weekly dose of AGT

Each week seems like its getting worse... so I am definitely looking forward to next week when we can actually get on with the competition and stop the silly auditions (I understand it is necessary, but still annoying). So here are my two favorites. They are both singers, and I think they are both fabulous. You decide which one you like better.

The first one is a guy named X.L., and I think he has such a beautiful voice, and not to mention an uber cute kid. (go to 1.15 to skip the intro stuff)

This 40 year old woman is freaking amazing. When I was watching the video on you tube, Zachariah was sitting in his high chair doing a little dance. :) I cannot wait to see more of her. (to skip the intro, go to 1.25 of the video)

The honorable mention go to this cute kid, Skakes, who is a pretty good break dancer for a 10 year old! (and I cant find a video for him... so I apologize for that) And then Ronny B gets the award most horrid act preformed. But yet, somehow managed to make it through. (it actually is pretty funny though) sheesh. What is this world coming to?

The dreaded word

I have had to start using the word "no" a good bit lately. Zachariah will crawl over to an outlet (to try and take the covers off), or to a trash can (so he can dig for buried treasure I guess). Or, his favorite, crawling over to the extension chord that is in our living room (it makes a good jump rope for babies). When he does one of these many things I will walk over, give him a very stern look and tell him "No". What does he do? Laughs his freaking head off. And the sterner I get, the more he laughs. I am not kidding. He will actually topple over on the floor he is laughing so hard. *sigh* Were going to have to nip this in the bud.

A few updates on my little man

- Zachariah celebrated his first Independence Day this year! He didn't stay up late enough to get to see any fireworks, but he did get to chow down on some yummy watermelon after a relaxing swim. :)

- Earlier this month Zachariah turned 10 months old! Which means only 2 months to go until his 1 year old birthday. That is just crazy people. I cant believe my baby will be 1 year old soon. ahhh. Someone tell me where all the time went???

- He is totally off baby food and loving the world of table foods! I have not found a food he doesn't like. But his favorites as of late are Grilled Cheese sandwiches, chicken nuggets, scrambled egg yolk, and zucchini and squash fritters (I am going to post the recipe to that soon). He has been teething since 4 months old, but still doesn't have a single tooth! But he somehow manages to get all of his food down. So I guess that's the only thing that matters. :)

- Our most exciting milestones have just happened in the past couple days! He started pulling up all by himself, and he has said his first word, which happened to be "Da Da"! Needless to say, we are very excited (and Daniel is still on cloud 9). He has been EXTREMELY close to saying "up" and "momma". So I have a feeling one of those will be next. Oh! another cute thing that he has been doing is pointing at things with is index finger and at the same time, mumbling something that sounds a lot like "this". Heck, maybe that will be his next word. Its so freaking cute.

Anyway, those are some updates on my little monkey. I am sure I will be updating again in the near future, seeing as how it seems like he is doing new things CONSTANTLY!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Yep. I am 23 years old today. Its kind of crazy to think that I have been married for almost 3 years, I own a house, and I am a mommy to a 10 month old baby. I dunno. It kind of seems like I should be a lot older than this. But I wouldn't trade this for the world. And quite frankly, I am glad I am only 23, as opposed to a whopping 26 like my hubby. :)

So in honor of me, I have decided to post pictures of back in the day. I tried to find some pictures of me with the bangs and braces in middle school, but failed. So if anyone has a copy of those horrific days... please let me know!

I think I was 6 months old here.
(yes, I was quite the chunk)

My first Easter!

My second Easter!
(apparently that was a popular
time to take pictures)

Miss Priss
Me, Wesley and baby Amanda

I think this was my 3rd grade
picture. But I am not too sure.

And last but not least, a picture of me and my
adorable family celebrating my day of birth.

That's all for now... but have no fear, I will be back tomorrow for more postings!

Up and Running!

Just wanted to let everyone know that we have a computer!!! Thanks to my dad... he has fixed us up a temp until we buy our new one. So no more library visits. Woohoo! More posts to come tonight! :)

Coming Soon

Hey everyone!

I know the posts and comments have been few and far between lately, but Daniel and I are hopefully about to see the light at the end of the tunnel. We are hoping to get a new computer around the last week of July or first week of August (hopefully we can hit up the computers on tax free weekend). But for now the infrequent trips to the public library will have to do. (bla) I have had so many things to blog about, but I just cant force myself to spend longer than 30 min. over here. I feel like everyone in this whole room is staring at my screen. So these measly updates will have to do for the time being.

This is Amy Lynn, signing off until the next awkward library trip.

Week Five

I don't have very long to blog today... so I will give you a few highlights from AGT. But before I do that, let me just tell you that my hatred for David Hasselhoff is growing each and every week. I would love it if he did not show up next year. But that's another post in and of itself. Now onto the highlights!

This is an act by the Zooperstars. I don't think they are going to make it through another round, but they sure enough got the crowd going. They were a bit odd, but funny.

This act was pretty awesome. I cant wait to see more of his stuff.

And last but not least, the honorable mentions: I give this guy kudos for laying on a bed of nails. And I feel so incredibly sorry for this lady who honestly had no clue that she couldn't sing. I also love the Dallas Desperado Dancers because I so desperately wish that I could dance. And they are smokey. So there.

Thats all for today... I gotta go back home and put Zachariah down for his nap. I will be back later for an update on my little monkey! :)

Be on the look-out

*~*~*~*BLOG UPDATE*~*~*~*
Target got some more blocks in stock and I am the official owner of these fabulous things! No need to sweat it out anymore. Thanks though.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been looking for some blocks for Zachariah. He has a set of baby einstein blocks... but they are really big and there are only 4 of them. So, I want something that is more stackable.

I found these blocks at Target about a month ago, and went back the other week and they were gone! I havent found them anywhere else but online... and I really dont want to pay shipping for this. So has anyone seen these blocks around town? If you happen to see them, PUH-LEASE let me know so that I can run out and get them.

Its that time again

Despite my lack of computer, I am still going to keep the people of blogger land up to date on America's Got Talent. (But if my neighbor asks... I was at my house all afternoon. I was NOT, under any circumstances breaking into their house to use their computer.)

Last night there were two acts that I thought deserved a spot on my post. The first of which is called The James Gang. They are pretty original, and I thought they were uber cool.

Then there was this amazingly touching story of Kyle.

I have to include the honorable mentions.
Victoria, the 11 year old contortionist was just plain amazing. And Alexandra did a pretty cool martial arts thing with her dad. I didn't think she was going to make it through... but somehow she convinced the judges, and off she went!

Then there were the hilariously awful ones. The acts that fall into the gosh awful category are the pitiful polka dancers and Billy... the guy that sings like a girl. Though I did think Billy's singing was pretty entertaining. But its not called "America's got entertainment skills", so he obviously didn't make it though.

This concludes this weeks review of America's Got Talent. Stay tuned next week for more entertaining videos!

RIP

Juts wanted to let everyone know that our computer has died. So it may be a little bit before we can blog. Try to be strong during this tough time. I will return to the blogging world soon.

Until I get a new computer...

The Search Continues

Per our regular Tuesday night routine, we watched America's Got Talent last night. This week there were several contestants that were good... but I only found one that I LOVED. Daniel and I liked this guy from the get-go, so I wanted to share with you the video. It really is quite spactacular, and he is quite frankly the most adorable 71 year old ever.

Then there was this group of cloggers. And much to my surprise, they were really good! If you don't want to watch the intro to them, just skip to the 30 second mark on the video. Thats when their act begins. :)

Now I wont post this video, but I will provide a link to Busty Heart (and boy howdy, the name says it all). So if you wish to watch Busty, then have at it. But for those of you who find it a bit repulsive to watch a woman crush objects with her XXXXXXXL breasts (I am still trying to figure out if that is a talent), then you can just ignore this little paragraph.

There are a few other good acts, but I dont want to overload you with videos, so if you want to watch more then go here.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for a little feedback...

What do you think of the videos? Keep posting them, or stop immediately?
