Update on my sickling

Zachariah's cough and congestion has gotten worse over the past few days, so Wednesday we went to the Doctor. He prescribed two different medicines and said if we don't see results in two days to come back and he will put him on a nebulizer. Luckily after the first dose I saw results! He slept SO much better and his congestion is clearing up. His cough is still hanging around though... but I am just glad he can breath when he goes to sleep. It was touch and go there for a while. Our handy dandy monitor system even alarmed a few times during this sick period ( and each time he was fine... if he did stop breathing for a while, he was breathing just fine after the alarm). But hey, at least we know it works. :)

Anyway, thats an update on my sick little baby. We are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, so I am happy! Ok, he is letting me know my two minutes on the computer are up, so I am off!

Yay for long weekends

This weekend was so relaxing. Saturday evening we went to my cousins family birthday get-together thing, which included swimming! So that gave us the opportunity to introduce Zachariah to the "big pool"! It was so much fun seeing his reaction to the cold water! He loved it so much that we went back on Monday afternoon (when the water was a bit warmer) and took his nifty little float with us. He loved that even more! I think he really liked the freedom of being in a float and not having to be held by mom or dad. He would throw a toy out of the "play area" that is provided in the float, and then kick his little legs until he ended up near it. He was so freaking cute! Anyway, here are some pictures of Zachariah's first two "swims" in the pool!

He absolutely loved this float.

No need to point it out

Thats all folks! Hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend! :)

First of many...

We have been having some technical difficulties with transferring videos from the video camera to the computer for a while now. But, to make a long story really short, we bought a fire wire cable and all is well! (Hooray!)

So for your enjoyment, I have provided footage of the cutest baby in the world. :)

This Just In

I read a story in the news this afternoon about the couple in Germany who put their baby up for sale on Ebay. At first I was appalled, but then I read what the Ebay ad said... "Offering my nearly new baby for sale, as it has gotten too loud. It is a male baby, nearly 28 inches (70 cm) long and can be used either in a baby carrier or a stroller." Then I wanted to laugh, because quite frankly, after reading the ad, I really do think it was a joke. But then I was reminded that even if it was a joke, it really isnt funny to actually put an ad selling your baby on the Internet. Thats pretty dumb. And the 23 year old mom got her baby taken away because of it.

What do you think?
Funny, just plain stupid, or a little of both?

For Your Info

Target is having a sale! There are a couple tables of T shirts, onesies, and shorts for $3.99 each, ages 6 months to 24 months. I am trying to stop buying onesies (seeing as how t shirts are so much easier) but I couldn't resist getting this one.

Sick Baby

Zachariah is officially sick. He hasn't had so much as the sniffles before now, and for that I am thankful. But he is oh-so-pitiful. His nose cant stop running, he has a cute little cough, and a low-grade fever. Monday night he woke up every 45 min. to an hour (that was fun), and he had to sleep in his car seat because of all the drainage.

Yesterday I started feeling like I was getting sick, so Daniel saved the day and took off work for a bit to take Z to the Doctor for me. He is now on some meds, and I am hoping this is just a short lived thing. He had a great night's sleep last night, thanks to my oh-so-wonderful mother-in-law. He only woke up twice! (and Daniel got up with him both times) It felt wonderful to be able to get some sleep.

Anyway, that's whats been going on the past couple of days in our house. Hopefully I will have a good update in the next day or so. :)

Its about time

I have only been to a "church service" 3 times since Zachariah has been born. (insert witty comment about me being a horrible Christian here) I have decided that churches (in general) make it very hard for a new mother to visit. Daniel and I feel very strongly about having our son with us. What is more enjoyable than worshiping with your family? I have never put my son in a nursery... and don't feel a huge need to do so. But I feel very nervous taking my 8 month old into a service, in fear of being "ushered out" because my baby is being too distracting (insert eye roll here). So I stress out about it and end up staying home with Zachariah while Daniel will go visit churches around town.

We visited a church yesterday. And by we, I mean all three of us. There were over a dozen children in the service, so I felt really comfortable keeping Zac in there. He made noises while he played, he flirted with a girl behind us, Daniel got up and walked him around... and you know what? No one cared. No one was phased by it. No one "informed" me that they have a nursery in hopes that I would use it. They welcomed a baby in the service. And because of that, I was able to enjoy myself.

I really enjoyed the service we went to yesterday.
And its been a while since I have been able to say that.

In the market for a kick butt stroller?

Ever since Zachariah has been able to sit up, I have been in the market for an umbrella stroller. (the travel system was getting to be a pain) But quite frankly, I despise them. They remind me of a baby doll stroller. You basically have to walk while squatting to reach the handles. Which would cause some major back problems, which wold cause me to complain for weeks on end. So in order to keep the people around me happy, I wanted to avoid that at all cost. Luckily I came across this uber cool stroller on the Internet. It's still an umbrella stroller, but 10 times better.

Get this: There is a basket underneath to hold diapers and such, there are two cupholder type things big enough to hold water bottles and or sippy cups. There are quite a few pockets/pouches to hold keys, wallets, toys, etc... The stroller is extremely lightweight and the handles aren't really low to the ground! In fact, if you prefer, you can buy the stroller with Adjustable Handles for only $10 more. (which is the one I bought) Oh yeah. I haven't told you the best part about it. It has an adjustable canopy. Thats right. It locks into 542 different positions so that your child can be shaded, no matter what direction the sun is in! (ok, so I may have exaggerated a little, but its pretty close) I bought it in grey, but they also have one in pink and red.

So if you are looking for a freaking awesome umbrella stroller, I suggest going to Target.com and ordering this one or this one with the cool handles. Its a pretty good stroller for a not so bad price. I have definitely got my money's worth out of it after only a month.

Fountain Fun

Yesterday was a beautiful day, and I was getting stir crazy, so I took Zac and my two favorite little girls to the park to play in the fountains (my cousin and god-daughter). We had an absolute blast! Zachariah sat in his stroller screaming at them the whole time. It was hilarious.

Anyway, here are some pictures of our lovely afternoon! :)

Zachariah was finishing up the yelling in
attempt to get their attention :)

drying off in the sun!

Thats all folks.
Have a great day!

Almost Crawling

Z is 8 months old today... and still not crawling. But he is so darn close! He can scoot on his butt a little bit at a time and end up on the other end of his play mat. He also does this thing where he will stretch himself farther than I ever imagined a baby could stretch without falling over, until he reaches his desired toy.

Notice how he is sitting... with his legs folded in front of him. If he stretches far enough he can balance on both knees for a couple seconds before his legs flip out from under him and he falls on his tummy. Poor thing. He doesnt seem to be too frustrated at the fact that bouncing on his butt doesn't get him anywhere, so I am hoping that one day he will get frustrated enough to actually go somewhere. But for now I guess I should just be happy that he is happy, even if he is immobile. :)

Randoms

I have a new banner. I recently realized that no matter how crowded it may be, I need to put a "family" picture up there somewhere, because right now it looks like I am a single mom.

Still cant come up with a new blog name. So I am sticking with Randominity until something amazing pops into my head. (Thanks to those who actually gave suggestions though. You all get a cookie).

I have been walking for 20 min. every day for the past week. (Zachariah has a short attention span, so I am stuck at the 20 min. mark) I am hoping to keep up the walking thing, but I have a bad habit of being lazy... so wish me luck.

I had a TERRIFIC Mothers Day, thanks to my fabulous husband. :)

And because I cant post without a picture of my baby, here is where Zachariah was perched during our Mothers Day lunch with the Titus'.

That's all for now. I am sure I will be back later with something of equal or less importance. :)
Happy Monday!

Another "First"

Yesterday was a day full of fun for Zachariah and I. We went on an early morning stroll, we ran errands (which he thoroughly enjoyed), we went swimming, we played with some new toys, we played outside and blew bubbles with daddy (which he enjoyed even more), and we took a bath! It was a very busy day, and it was probably one of the best days that Zachariah and I have had for a couple weeks now. (he has been uber fussy, which makes staying at home with him just a treat)

Well after bath time, Zachariah was sitting on his changing table and was getting settled into his pajamas, when all of a sudden he decides to lunge (at lightning speed) for the Desiten. Before Daniel or I can catch him, he hits his head on the side of the changing table and ends up with this sucker on his head.

So he got his very first owie. After lots of ice, the swelling went down and it looks a ton better this morning. Overall, he was a real trouper, we are so proud of him! :)

Pool Time Fun

I noticed that I haven’t really blogged recently. They have basically been blurbs and pictures of my adorable child. I guess when you are around one little person every single minute of the live long day, that tends to become all you have time to think about.

Since it has been really nice out, we have been taking advantage of the weather. So without further ado, here are some pictures of Z playing in his new pool:

loving his new pool

what a goober...

sporting his adorable little rash guard.

Its a good thing he doesn't have a sibling to share
his toys with yet, cause he is such a toy hog...

Have a great day!

Food de-la Finger

Zachariah has eaten his first finger food (which was none other than blueberry muffins!) and LOVED it. I am not ready to go finger food crazy yet (mainly because the responsibility for providing ALL of my kids nutrition scares the tar out of me) but I did find this uber cool recipe that I am going to try. So I thought I would share it in case anyone else needs finger food ideas. Enjoy!

Oh, and if anyone has some good starter-finger-foods, please pass them along! I am going to need all the ideas I can get. :)

Fine...

Here is my short hair. I cut it all off last week and regretted it almost immediately. I am slowly getting to the point where I am not depressed when I walk by a mirror, but I really miss my long hair!!! I haven't really experimented much with the "short do" but its been REALLY easy so far. Zachariah was not too happy though. When he goes to pull my hair he just gets a handful of air. Muahahaha.

All in all, I am glad I cut it... but I probably wont do it again. I just love my long hair too much.

Are you happy now Tammi??? :)

Oh, and in case you are wondering... in the picture Zachariah is a little distracted watching a baby bird fall out of its nest. (No worries, Amanda saved it)
