Mothers Day

Mothers-Day-03--b&w
I am afraid I don't have a super sweet/sentimental belated mothers day post for you to read today. And I don't even have a ton of cute pictures ready to show you of me and Zachariah. But I do have two pictures of us that were taken yesterday... which is actually a pretty big deal when you take in consideration Z's camera phobia. :)

Mothers-Day-01--b&w
Even though being a mommy is more challenging than I ever could have imagined, it is pretty much the most awesome thing ever. Zachariah has made me one heck of a happy Mom for the past 2.5 years and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I hope all of you Mom's had a great Mothers Day! :)

Gem Mining

While we were in NC, the youth group decided to do a little gem mining in Boon. Seeing as how it is not the most toddler friendly activity, Daniel kept Zachariah back at the retreat center and I got to go hang out with the kids WITHOUT a toddler! It was so refreshing to be able to have adult conversations with other counselors there without having to throw in a "Do you have a poopy diaper?"

So here I am... mining for gems. Except you don't really mine. They give you a big bucket of dirt, and you scoop a pile or two into your sifter. Then you put your sifter in a water trough and sift away all of the dirt. Then you decide what rock like objects you want to keep and you put them in a bucket.

Here I am, scooping my dirt, hoping for some massive diamonds or something.

No diamonds were found, but check out this massive rock I found. Its called a geode. You can get it cut open and there are crystals inside of it. Its pretty cool, except their machine was too small the cut mine open. Boo.

Oh, and you see how nasty my hands and fingernails are??? Yeah. That water was MUDDY. It was gross.

I don't like getting dirty. Just ask my parents. I am a real wimp about certain things, and dirt is definitely high up on the list.

Here are my rock findings! I kept A LOT of the rock like objects I found. Just in case they ended up being something important.

Here is a nifty little chart that they give you. This guy put the rocks in their appropriate places on the chart, then used some heavy duty packing tape to seal them in place.

And here is my finished chart! I had a good bit of emeralds and garnet. The rose quartz and amethyst were my favorite though! Oh, and look closely at the top right hand box. That stone is one of the three rarest to find. And woohoo! I found it. I don't know why, but I was pretty excited about that.

It apparently doesn't take much to entertain me. Just give me some dirt and rocks and I will be happy.

Anyway, the nifty thing is you can have the stones cut and set, making some beautiful jewelry! I am sooo looking forward to that. One day. You know, when we have money to spare. When I decide to have the stones cut, I will probably mail them back to this place in NC, because they do it for CHEAP.

So yeah.., that concludes my gem mining experience. I had a TON of fun and would love to do it again one day!

Happy Birthday To Me!

Yep. Today is my birthday! And I am 24 whopping years old. Which is still young. So I am totally fine with turning 24, just in case anyone was wondering. Next year may be a different story. But I will enjoy this feeling while it lasts. :)

My family and I are currently out of town (more on that later), so we celebrated my birthday earlier last week. My sister was in town too, so we had a joint b-day celebration, per our usual. Our birthdays are only 10 days apart, so this happens often. Yay for July birthday's! :)

This is me and my sister, Amanda. You may have seen her in the comment section before, but she is a LAZY COMMENTER, so its not often she actually pipes up. :)

Take note of what we are holding in our hands. My sister has her cake of choice, which would be dirt cake. And I have my cake of choice, which would be cheesecake. Half with cherry topping, the other half with blueberry. My mom made both of these scrumptious cakes. Yes, she is quite amazing like that. :)

Speaking of my mom, here she is with Zachariah and my dad. He mooched quite a bit off of their plates. AFTER he finished off my cheesecake. He is such a little sneak.

Anyway. That is my birthday post to myself. Happy Birthday to me!

I will be posting more later, once we get settled in to our location. :)
Ta ta for now!

Oh The Drama

The past couple days have been CRAZY. But I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel, so I now have a little time to blog about my freak accident.

To make a long story short, Zachariah scratched my eyeball. Yes. That's right. He scratched my freaking eyeball. The poor kid didn't mean to hurt his mommy. In fact he was oblivious to the whole entire thing. We were just watching TV and all of a sudden he got excited about Winnie The Pooh, causing his hand to fly in front of my face. Which somehow resulted in his fingers being shoved into my eye. Which led to me crying in pain for the next three hours before decided I needed to go to the doctor.

Seriously, it hurt like crap. It took me 10 min. to even be able to open my eyes. I was expecting blood to be pouring down my face. (Yes, I tend to overreact a bit.) It really was excruciating pain.

So this happened around noon and I ended up at the eye doctor about three hours later. I really wish I could show you what the doctor showed Daniel. I hear it was pretty remarkable. When looking through their microscope you could see my scratch. And boy was it one heck of a scratch. It was 4mm long and 2mm wide, starting in my pupil and ending in my iris. Apparently it was in the shape of a banana. I really wish I had a picture of that.

Anyway. My vision was messed up pretty bad. They gave me some magic eye drops and a contact lens that acted as a band aid (which was pretty cool) and I was quickly on the road to recovery. My eye literally healed overnight. It was pretty amazing.

My vision will be blurry for up to two weeks, but I am thrilled there is no permanent damage. With the scratch being in the pupil, it was a serious possibility.

And now for a picture. I am ONLY going to show you this if you promise not to look closely at my eyebrows. Promise? Seriously, you have to promise. Okay, good. I am going to hold you to this.

See how dilated my darn eye is? And red. And puffy. I wish I could have opened them a bit more. But the sun was killing me.

Oh, and just in case your wondering... yes, that is actually a picture of my eyes. Yes, I am aware my eyebrows resemble a mans eyebrows. And yes, I am going to rectify that soon. I don't seem to have a lot of time on my hands to tend to the caterpillars. Don't judge me.

Anyway. my vision should be completely normal in a couple weeks. And if you have actually read this far then you deserve a cookie. Seriously, tell me what your favorite cookie is and I will get it to you.

Happy Birthday To Me!

Yep. I am 23 years old today. Its kind of crazy to think that I have been married for almost 3 years, I own a house, and I am a mommy to a 10 month old baby. I dunno. It kind of seems like I should be a lot older than this. But I wouldn't trade this for the world. And quite frankly, I am glad I am only 23, as opposed to a whopping 26 like my hubby. :)

So in honor of me, I have decided to post pictures of back in the day. I tried to find some pictures of me with the bangs and braces in middle school, but failed. So if anyone has a copy of those horrific days... please let me know!

I think I was 6 months old here.
(yes, I was quite the chunk)

My first Easter!

My second Easter!
(apparently that was a popular
time to take pictures)

Miss Priss
Me, Wesley and baby Amanda

I think this was my 3rd grade
picture. But I am not too sure.

And last but not least, a picture of me and my
adorable family celebrating my day of birth.

That's all for now... but have no fear, I will be back tomorrow for more postings!

Fine...

Here is my short hair. I cut it all off last week and regretted it almost immediately. I am slowly getting to the point where I am not depressed when I walk by a mirror, but I really miss my long hair!!! I haven't really experimented much with the "short do" but its been REALLY easy so far. Zachariah was not too happy though. When he goes to pull my hair he just gets a handful of air. Muahahaha.

All in all, I am glad I cut it... but I probably wont do it again. I just love my long hair too much.

Are you happy now Tammi??? :)

Oh, and in case you are wondering... in the picture Zachariah is a little distracted watching a baby bird fall out of its nest. (No worries, Amanda saved it)

More Pictures

Lately its been really hard to take a bad picture of Zachariah. It took 7 months, but he has finally been participating really well when I bring out the camera! So, I couldn't help but post our latest pictures for all to see! I swear, he is turning into a little man. :)

I love this kid so much.
