When it comes to changing diapers, I like to think that I have a lot of experience under my belt. I had a baby brother born when I was 10, I started babysitting when I was 12, I worked in the nursery at church from the age of 15 until 19... working in the one year old room every single Sunday night for 2 years straight. That's not even mentioning the fact that I have been doing nothing but changing diaper after diaper for the past 11 months. So considering my credentials, I like to think that I know a thing or two when it comes to diaper changing.
Zachariah has been trying some new foods lately. The newest one has been a quesadilla! Don't worry, it isn't a fully loaded quesadilla or anything. I just put shredded cheese and smooshed up black beans in a tortilla shell, then I cut it up into really small pieces (since he still has NO teeth to chew with). Much to my delight, he LOVED it. I was very excited that we have another food item to put on the menu. But every since I have given him that dadgum quesadilla, his poop has been downright nasty. I am not talking about "ew, thats gross" kind of diapers. I am talking about the I-have-almost-vomited-every-time-I-change-one-of-these kind of diapers. And its not just one nasty diaper that I have had to change. Its been 3 or 4 nauseating poopy diapers a day, going on the THIRD day now. I have been living the good life, just changing one poopy diaper a day. Zachariah has been on a nice schedule. But nooooo. Not since I had the bright idea to introduce him to black beans. Honestly folks, in all of my diaper changing, I have never smelled anything like this.
Anyone have a poop story that will make me feel grateful for this nastiness? That is, if anyone else actually talks about poop on a public blog... Is that over the line when it comes to blog topics?

The Perfect Egg
I am a HUGE fan of eggs. I will eat them any way they are cooked, but my two favorites are scrambled and boiled. When I was growing up I ate boiled egg sandwiches pretty much every day. They were my all time favorite. When I was preggers, tuna salad sandwich was creeping up on the list of favorites as well. So over the years I have had quite a few reasons to boil eggs on a VERY regular basis. And I must say that I have gotten to be a pretty darn good boiler of the egg. Which leads me to my next paragraph.
I was watching Rachel Ray a while back and she had mentioned how to boil the perfect egg. I thought to myself, "Yeah, Yeah. We all know how to boil an egg. For crying out loud". I have always boiled my eggs for 10 min, then turn the burner off and let them cool for a bit. Then go on with the process of peeling and cutting the egg. So I just assumed that Ray Ray's version of the perfect boiled egg would be something like that. But instead of doing it my way, she says to bring the eggs to a rapid boil then turn off the heat. Let them sit in the hot water for 10 min. and then procede with the peeling of the egg. I had never even considered this meathod of boiling.
So today, because I wanted a tuna salad sandwich, I tried her boiling method. And much to my surprise, Ray Ray knows what she is talking about! It was the most beautiful boiled egg I have ever seen. I thought mine were just fine before... but now...wow. Talk about a great yolk.
Anyway, just wanted to share my new discovery. And for those of you who have known how to boil "the perfect egg", shame on you for not telling me!

Sprite
I don't know why, but I really like this commercial. It may have something to do with the great song choice, or the really cool idea of jumping into a pool of concrete, or it could be that I am a commercial freak. But the fact still remains that I like it. So I am sharing it with all of you, so that you will like it as well.

What a Moron
David Hasselhoff makes me want to pull my hair out. I honestly dont have enough words to express everything about him that makes me wish I were poking my eyeballs with a fork instead of listening to him. So, we were watching the live brodcast America's Got Talent last night and The James Gang just got done preforming. The judges are giving their cretiques/compliments and it gets to good ol David's turn. Daniel and I were completely speachless when he says this to the group...
"You are as American as the Olympics"
WHAT??????
I am about done with this show. Sheesh. I cant handle much more of this stupidity.

Rain, Rain, Come and Stay
It has been raining literally all weekend. I usually don't like it raining for multiple days... mainly because the rain brings lightning and thundering along with it. But this rain was so relaxing. I love this type of rain. Its heavy, but not threatening. I will take this rain any day.
Zachariah also likes the rain. He pretty much parked it at the window all weekend. Walking back and forth along windowsill. It was quite adorable.
Hope everyone has a fabulous Monday!

Women and Their To Do List's
I just found about 3 million "To Do List's" for Zachariah's birthday party (some that I wrote 2 months ago). With 3 weeks left to go, I am going to be switching to "stress mode" here soon. I need to combine those dadgum list's. Maybe then it wont look so daunting.
I am so glad that I wont be planning a First Birthday Party every year! Unless of course we have more bundles-of-joy sooner than I expect. (talk about something to stress about!)

Birthday Song
Click here to find out the #1 hit song in the US on the day you were born! All you have to do is click the correct month, day and then year that you were born. Its kind of addicting. Apparently Daniel's whole office spent an entire work day figuring out everyone's "birthday song". Must be nice to be able to sit around with the guys and chat it up. Not having anything stressful to do... you know, like keeping an 11 month old entertained.
Just kidding! (I am going to get in trouble for that one)
Anyway... if you need something to do during the day, go check it out. I would be interested in knowing what everyone's birthday song is! (that is, if you people aren't to lazy to comment!)
My birthday song was "A View to a Kill" by Duran Duran. What's yours?

Whew!
We got back from PC around 12:45 this morning, and besides the lack of sleep we are currently suffering from, we had a BLAST! Zachariah had the best time splashing in the pool and ocean and exploring in the sand. I am so glad that we got to go relax and spend time with family.
I have HUNDREDS of pictures to go through and decide which ones I should post. But I am going to have to put that on hold until Zachariah's next nap. So for now you will have to settle with a plain ol picture of the beach. Just be prepared for picture overload on my next post!
Hope everyone has a great Monday!!

Babies Gone Wild
We left for the beach yesterday afternoon, and Zachariah was surprisingly decent on the 4 hour drive down! He was a bit fussy at first, but once I moved to the back with him, he was a happy camper (my motion sickness was having a ball though). So to say that Zachariah was thrilled when we got here is an understatement. When we walked into our condo and he saw the sliding glass door that overlooked the pool, with many a palm trees, he freaked out. He bounced on the floor for a couple minuets and then made the following faces while screaming in excitement.
I am off to go eat a massive breakfast at the in-laws condo.
Be jealous. :)

Toddler Tossing
Saw this on one of the many blogs that I stalk and thought it was pretty entertaining.

Gee thanks Greg!
Zachariah is turning 11 months old on Wednesday. That being said, do you know how many teeth this almost-one-year-old has so far? NONE! I'm telling you, he is slow going with those teeth. Its about to drive me bananas. He has supposedly been "having signs of teething" on and off since he was 4 months old, and it seems to be happening again. But there is not a blessed thing going on in that mouth. (Besides saliva production.) I should have seen this coming though. His Uncle Greg didn't have his first tooth come in until he was 18 months old, and we did name Zac after Greg. So that's just asking for a toothless smile for the first year or so isn't it?
So thats it. I just wanted to update you on my son's lack of teeth. And in closing I will leave you with a picture of Zachariah and his namesake. :)
...and no, my son is not on drugs. He just had a very non-photogenic moment. It happens to the best of us.

Almost Time!
We are going on our annual Titus Family Beach Trip this coming weekend, and I am SO excited!! I have been aching to go to the beach for a while now... and the closer it gets, the more excited I become. Also this will be Zachariah's first trip to the beach! I can't wait to see how he reacts to the beach/ocean. (I am hoping he isn't anything like me when I was a baby... or else we will not be spending to much bonding time with the sand.) I have a feeling I will have have an overload of pictures to share once we get back. :)
I hope this week goes by fast!
But I pretty much just jinxed myself and guaranteed an extremely slow week now didn't I?

MMMMM Good
Since Zachariah is eating nothing but table foods, I have had to be a bit creative. I don't want to feed him fruit and yogurt for the rest of his life... so I am forced to actually use my noodle. Here is one of mine and Z's favorites. I call them Zucchini Fritters. My mom made them all the time when I was growing up and they are yummy! I don't even necessarily like zucchini, so if you are not a veggie fan, no worries. You can hardly taste it. Here ya go!
Zucchini Fritters
1 1/2 cups of self-rising flour
1 cup of shredded cheese
1 cup of milk
1 cup of shredded zucchini (one medium sized zucchini)
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
A couple shakes of garlic powder
-Preheat oven to 375
- mix up all ingredients and spoon into muffin pan
- Bake for 20 minutes (or until lightly golden on top)
- Makes about 18 fritters... depending on how full you get the muffin cups.
Note:
-If you want to change it up a bit, you can add a cup of squash, or carrots or some other veggie along with the Zucchini (Zachariah likes squash and zucchini in his).
- These are really easy to freeze. I freeze half of them so that I don't have to bake them as often.
Enjoy! Let me know if you make them and what kinof veggies you use!

Foliage
Daniel just recently moved into his new office at work. There isn't an abundance of air flow, so we are looking for a good office plant. Preferably one that can sit in a corner, does well in low lighting and is low maintenance. Any suggestions?

Chocolat
I don't know how I went 8 years without watching this movie. If you have not yet see Chocolat, then I suggest that you go rent it. It is such a cute movie. I know Daniel is pretty tired of hearing me go on about it, but since watching that I have been crushing on Johnny Depp again ( I go through my phases). There aren't many celebrities that I gawk over, the first being Heath Ledger, but Johnny is definitely one of them. I swear, he is just so fabulous. I mean, how can this guy not make you swoon??

Ray Ray
As many of you have probably realized, I watch Rachel Ray on a pretty regular basis. She actually drives me batty... but she is the only thing on when Z takes his afternoon nap, and she has some pretty good recipes. One of which will be the topic of my post today. It is called Hula Chicken with Pineapple BBQ Sauce. I made it this weekend and it is uber yummy. So go here to get the recipe! (it is way to much for me to post on here)

New Computer!
I dont know why this was 4th on my list of things to blog about... but we got a new computer yesterday! It is a Dell Inspiron Laptop (I am sure Daniel can tell you more about it... I am not too good with the little details) and I am absolutely loving it. I love being able to sit on the couch while blogging and watching Regis and Kelly at the same time. This is the life.
Now if only I could get a maid to clean up for me so I dont feel guilty about sitting on my bum all day.
