Announcement

Hello dear readers.

I regret (but not really) to inform you that this is my very last blog post over here on That's What She Said. Not my very last blog post ever, just the last one over here at this blog address!

Blogger has served me well these past four years, but it is time to move on. My husband has created a kick butt website for me and I am soooo ready to start using it! This site will still remain "live", but it wont be updated. So don't forget to subscribe, bookmark, change the blog address on your blog rolls, change the rss or whatever it is you people need to change in order to check my blog!

Now, it will take some time for me to move my 600 something posts over to my new website, so you will just have to bear with me. If you don't see something over on my new website (for example: a certain recipe or photography or vaccine post) you may feel free to come back here and search for it. Everything WILL eventually make it over to the new site, but again, it WILL take me a little while.

Anyway! Without further ramblings, here is the link to my new blog/website/awesomeness! www.amylynntitus.com

Oh The Joys

Miss me?

You better have. I have been absent for almost a week! I had two to three posts lined up for this week, one including some of Zachariah's three year old pictures, but I have had a few set backs. Ok, mainly one set back.

You see, Zachariah got sick. He had a pretty high fever and he was VERY clingy. So we pretty much laid around watching movies all day Tuesday. Later that afternoon I decided to try and blog while sitting on the couch with him.

THAT was a bad idea.

He ended up projectile puking all over me, the computer, the couch and himself. My computer immediately shut down (I assumed out of self defense.) and hasn't turned on since. So if I want to use a computer I have to wait till late at night when my husband is done working on his. Luckily I am able to access my email and facebook on my phone or I would be cut off from the outside world!

Anyway. All that to say, my computer is dead and I will have to wait until it is fixed/I get a new one to blog anything of substance. All of my pictures are on the barf-y computer.

Stay tuned. I will keep you posted on my computer situation and when you can expect to see cute pictures of my kid! :)

Sorry, Sorry, Sorry!

First things first... this is not a post with beach pictures. I KNOW they are overdue, and I SWEAR I will get at least some of them up this week, but I have just had one heck of a time catching up with things around here!

For those of you that want to know, I am feeling MUCH better these days. Yes, the last few months have resembled hell on earth for me, but the "all day sickness" seems to be tapering off. I haven't thrown up in a week! When you compare that to throwing up every day, several times a day... its enough to make a person downright giddy! And because of that I am feeling more "normal". I am able to cook dinner again, play with my son, run a few errands. Its great. Now, I still have to pace myself. I find that when I try to do to much in one day (run multiple errands in a two hour time period for example) I get very lightheaded and sick feeling, therefore making me stay on the couch the rest of the day. So I just have to take it slow-ish. I am so, so, so thankful that I am getting back to normal!

You may be thinking, "Well since you are feeling better and getting back into a normal-ish routine why cant you blog on a more regular basis?"

Well, good readers, that is a good question. And I have a good answer.

My son is the devil.

Haha. Just kidding. But over the past week he has definitely hit a certain stage that reminds me a little bit of the devil. I may choose to go into more detail later, but lets just say that he has developed quite the attitude lately and he is not afraid to show it.

So between me growing a baby and the new toddler phase that has taken over this house, when I get a moment to blog I just plop on the couch and stay there as long as I possibly can. I feel like a major bum, but its the only way for me to do anything remotely close to re-energizing myself. And re-energizing myself keeps me from stabbing myself in the eye with a fork, so as you can see it is pretty important.

Anyway! Thats about it for today. I swear, I WILL post pictures soon.

Don't hate me.

:)

Vacation Time!

We are going to the beach, baby!!!!

Each year we take a family vacation to the beach with Daniel's family and we always have lots and lots of fun. Everyone enjoys the heck out of themselves so much that we pretty much start counting down the days till the next beach vacation the day we get home!

Zachariah has been especially excited this year. He is old enough to anticipate fun things, and this is no exception. Every day for the past week he has been inviting me to go to the beach with him. It is so funny! This week we have had a nice countdown going and announce throughout the house "TWO DAYS UNTIL THE BEACH!" (that was yesterday's in case you were wondering)

Anyway! I just wanted to drop in to tell you that we are going to be on vacation and you should be super jealous. :) If you are having blog post withdrawals, feel free to click here to see last years beach pictures and click here to look at pictures from the year before last!

Now, I am off to pack.

Wish me luck.

Pregnancy Woes

Ok... I really am hoping to post more than once a week, but, as my last post explains, I am pregnant. And for those of you who have not realized this yet, I feel you should know that pregnancy is a form of torture for me. Seriously. I am not one of those pregnant women who have a bit of nausea for 3 weeks and then joyfully enjoy the rest of their pregnancy. I am cursed.

You see, while some pregnant women only suffer from nausea, I suffer from vomiting. And while some pregnant women suffer from vomiting, I suffer from extreme vomiting. (I have actually busted blood vessels in my face a time or two.) When I was pregnant with Zachariah I threw up 6-8 times a day until I started taking Zofran. Even with the meds I still threw up 3-4 times a day. Not fun when you are a preschool teacher! This go around I am not yet on meds and only puking 2-3 times a day. So its not quite a bad as last time, but still just as inconvenient due to the fact that I need to raise a toddler. Oh, did I mention my vomiting lasted the whole 9 months when I was pregnant with Zachariah? Yeah. Well, it did.

Now that we have covered the vomiting, lets move on to the spitting, shall we?

Yes. I said spitting.

Believe it or not, excess saliva is a common pregnancy symptom. Most women have an increase in saliva, but its not a very noticeable one. And the women that do notice it can usually just swallow the excess saliva. Not the case with me. I have SO much saliva that I have to spit it out. I have to spit so much that I am forced to carry around a cup with me to spit into.

Yes. I have a spit cup.

And yes, I have been asked if I am chewing tobacco.

Doctors and nurses brush me off and tell me that the spitting will probably go away around the first trimester and then I promptly give a respectful eye roll. My vomiting does not stop in the first trimester and neither does my saliva increase. In fact, when I was pregnant with Z I did not stop spitting until four weeks AFTER I had him. And every month when my menstrual cycle rolls around I would always notice an increase in saliva. Never to the extent of needing a spit cup, but I would have to spit in the sink a few times a day during the week of my period. (Sorry if that is TMI. Going through pregnancy and child birth makes me numb to the whole TMI factor. lol)

And now that we have covered the saliva issue, lets move on to the mucous. I guess mucous and saliva could go into the same category though couldn't they? Ah well. On with the mucous!

Ok, so along with the puking and saliva issue I have developed a mucous problem. Tons and tons of mucous will literally back up in my throat and I will have to spend an hour or so gagging it up. I literally have to stick my finger down my throat to get it up. And sticking my finger down my throat triggers the gag reflex which makes me puke again. Oh the joy. Anyway, the mucous problem is getting a tiny bit better thanks to Zyrtec. It thinks out the mucous a bit and makes it easier to gag up, which means less puking.

And I would be completely fine if I never type the word "mucous" again. That was just too much. My apologies.

All of that to say that I go through one heck of a time during my pregnancy and that is why I may be slack on my blogging. I am starting to cope better with my symptoms though, so hopefully you will see a couple more blog posts here and there. Just know I haven't given up, it just takes me a little bit to drag myself to the computer!

Signing off,
Your sick-o pregnant blogger

Zachariah's New Shirt

Zachariah has a new shirt and he has been DYING to share it with you all, but I have made him wait for a few weeks before showing it off. Partially because I am a mean mommy and partially because I like to keep secrets.

Ok, fine. Its only because I like to keep secrets. But the time has come and Zachariah just couldn't wait another moment to model his new shirt. So without further adieu, here is the new addition to our two year olds wardrobe...

big-brother!

You like? :)

Well, the shirt doesn't lie! I am about 7 weeks pregnant and my due date is February 12, 2011. Come early next year, ZACHARIAH IS GOING TO BE A BIG BROTHER!

And you know what?

big-brother!2

We couldn't possibly be more excited about it! :)

Guess What?

Zachariah got his cast off!!!!

We went to the doctor on Tuesday for the cast removal and more x-rays to find out how his arm was doing. The doctor said that it is almost healed and there is no need to re-cast the arm, BUT the bone is still very weak so we need to restrict his play for 2 weeks. (Which is just mind boggling. I mean, how do you restrict a two year olds play?? Ah well. We will figure it out.)

Here is the first picture of Z without his cast. (Well, the first "real" picture. I have a couple cell phone pictures, but they are blurry. So they don't count.) After we got home Z sat with Dad and watched some tv while eating his sucker the nice people at the doctors office gave him. :)

As you can imagine Zachariah is beyond thrilled to have his arm back. :) He keeps walking around and rubbing it saying, "My cast off!". He is still not back to using his arm normally, but I think its going to take him a couple days to remember that he can use it.

Everyone is pleased as punch around here, and if we can keep him from re-braking it for the next two weeks we will be out of the woods completely!

Wish us luck!

Life With a Cast

We have had quite some adjusting to do since this cast has been on Zachariah's arm. The first couple days were quite aggravating for him as he figured out that he could not do things quite as easily as before, but he adjusted quickly and has finally stopped asking me to cut the cast off with scissors. Which happens to be a great sign in my book!

Over the past week Zachariah has a few of his favorite "cast friendly" activities that he frequently does during the day, and so I thought I would share some of those with you. :)

cast07
Playing with the Tag Jr has proven to be a great one handed activity for him. And after a few tears of frustration he figured out how to prop his cast on the opposite page so the book wouldn't close on him!

cast05
Some of Z's friends stopped by the afternoon that he got his cast on. They were so incredibly thoughtful and brought by some Toy Story toys for him, and he LOVES them. That is pretty much all he played with that afternoon and they have been a big hit ever since.

cast08
Another friend gave Zachariah a Toy Story coloring book with those super cool markers that don't color on anything but the coloring book pages. Ingenious. This has been great for obvious reasons, but under normal circumstances I do NOT like him coloring with markers. With this I am able to give him some room to breathe while coloring and he is able to enjoy coloring his favorite Toy Story characters!!

cast03
Eating a banana is a great one handed activity that he has been enjoying as well. Well, eating any snack is a favorite activity of his, but I just happened to have the camera out for this one. As you can see the cast has not had an affect on his silliness. :)

cast06
Is this kid not the cutest thing ever? Gah. I just love him and his cute little cast!

My Week So Far

So... wow. It has been one heck of a crazy weekend/week. I usually don't like to let two whole days go by without a new post, so the fact that it has almost been a week since I last blogged has just about killed me.

Why has it taken me so long to get up a new post? I am glad you asked.

My computer has a virus and it is not letting me use the Internet right now, so I have to wait till my hubby gets home so I can use his.
I have taken zero pictures of recipes recently, so I have no recipe posts ready to blog.
I have read zero more chapters in my vaccine book, so I have no new info to blog.
I have taken some pictures I want to show you, but they are on my computer and I am not allowed to use that until my hubby fixes it.
Oh, and Zachariah broke his arm.

Yeah. You heard me. My two year old broke his arm this weekend.

Here is the short version of what happened. Thursday evening Zachariah was running around the house and when he tripped (I mean, who didn't see that coming?) he landed on his left arm. He cried pretty hard but after hugs and a band aid he dried his tears and went on with life like normal. He did not complain about his arm or make mention of it hurting. A day or two later we noticed that he was not using his left arm and he would cry every time pressure was being put on his arm/wrist. Thinking he might have sprained his wrist we got an x ray which showed he has a broken forearm.

Unfortunately the x rays aren't very clear and the doctor is not 100% sure how bad the break is. (It can take up to 10 days for a serious break to show up for a toddler) So the doc put Z in a cast and in two weeks we are going back for more x rays.

Just in case you were wondering, this whole process was a nightmare. Z HATES doctors and the x ray machines at the hospital scared him to death. If anyone at the doctors office even so much as looked at his arm he would scream. And I don't mean cry. I mean scream. I have never seen this side of my child before and it made me very sad.

It took four of us to hold him down so that someone could put his cast on. During that process he was screaming, kicking, hitting, crying, yelling, kicking, screaming... you get the picture. It was bad. But the cast is on and we get it off in two weeks.

This is a picture I took with my cell phone. It was taken right as we were leaving the doctors office. He kept telling me, "I don't yike my big band-aid!" My pitiful baby. :(

Anyway! I will have some more pictures and details on how he is doing coming in a day or so, but I just wanted to check in and let everyone know what was going on. This has been quite an emotional couple days for us. But the worst is behind us (that is until we have to take the cast off).

Hope everyone is have a great week. Talk to you soon!

Zachariah...

... is our only child (for now).

... is not a baby anymore. Toddler-hood completely creeped up on me. It has been a very bittersweet experience.

... has sworn off vegetables. I honestly cant find a single one that he will eat anymore! Fruit is a different story though. He will eat every single type of fruit that has ever been grown.

... is obsessed with all things music. Drums, guitar, piano, recorder. You name it, he wants to play it. And he has some pretty good rhythm too! I cant wait to see what he ends up playing when he gets a little older. Right now I would have to say drums, but we will see!

... is broadening his list of favorite tv shows. His current regulars are The Backyardigans, Wonder Pets, Little Einsteins and Thomas The Train. Whenever we have a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse DVD from the library that is also added to the list.

... has officially hit is terrible two stage. It is requiring a new level of patience that I have yet to tap into. Lord help me.

... has been sleeping in a big boy bed for almost a month. It looked like nap time was history, but I think we have it under control again. (More on that in another post.)

... loves outside play. Our neighbors are moving in a few days and they were gracious enough to give us their play set. Compared to Zachariah, it is HUGE! He can't get enough of swinging, sliding and climbing up the rock wall type thing. Thankfully the weather is cooperating so that he can run off some of that energy on the play set!

... will be two and a half in two weeks.

... has an incredibly silly personality. I LOVE being able to watch his silliness unfold. He really does keep us laughing constantly!

... weighs at least 500 pounds. Obviously I am lying. He is probably closer to 40 pounds. Its been about a year since we have been to the doctor so I really don't know for sure how heavy he is. But trust me, he is a heavy two year old!

... cannot sleep without gung gung and his blue blanket. He has added quite a few animal friends to the bed recently, but I will showcase those in another post. :)

... would eat breakfast food for every meal if it was an option. Pancakes, eggs, bagels, toast, cheese grits. He will eat any and all of it. 24/7.

... loves to sing. Right now some of his favorite songs to sing for us are: Ten in the Bed, Do You Know the Muffin Man, We Will Rock You, A Bushel and a Peck, Low Rider and The Wonder Pets theme song.

... constantly amazes me with his smarts. At 15 months old he knew his shapes, colors and letters. He could identify the letter and made the appropriate sound to go with it. And he just keeps getting smarter! He can now SAY all the letters (at 15 months he didn't have a large vocab), sing the alphabet song, say the name of the shapes (including pentagon and octagon), count to 15, and identify numbers 1-5 (still working on the numbers).

... enjoys movie nights. We try to do this once a week (usually on Saturday night) and we all love it. His recent movie picks have been Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo, Chicken Run, Monsters Inc. and Cars. (We love us some Pixar!)

... has very little patience for coloring. I am trying to work with him on that. We will see how it goes.

... is still using a paci, and I am totally fine with that. I plan to take it away by the time he turns three, but right now I am not about to fight that battle. And besides, it is one of the only things left from babyhood. So I don't mind it one bit. :)

... loves to watch animals. Whether the animal is a puppy in the pet store, a duck at the pond, a bird flying in the sky or a squirrel climbing up a tree, he does a little happy dance every time he sees an animal in motion.

... is incredibly hard to photograph. The fact that I was able to get these pictures is a freaking miracle.

... is loved so much by his mommy and daddy. Even if he is going through his terrible two stage. :)

What we have been up to

While most of this post is going to be dedicated to what Zachariah has been up to, I thought I would give a few updates on what Daniel and I have been up to as well.

Daniel has been working at his new job for almost two months now. We are both loving this job SO much more than his old one. He is loving the people he works with and he is able to design a lot more, which is what he enjoys. And Zachariah and I are loving his flexible schedule! So this job gets two thumbs up from everyone in the family. :)

I have been practicing my photography butt off. I have had at least one, sometimes two practice sessions a week for the past month and I have three more coming up. And I am still loving it. I am so glad to find something that I enjoy doing! Being a stay at home mom is very trying on my sanity and patience, so I am very grateful for this outlet. It makes me feel a little more normal when I am able to interact with people that are over the age of two.

Oh, and on a little bit of a random note... I cleaned out my pantry the other day. Besides the countless number of canned goods, chicken stock, cans of peanuts and bags of muffin mix, I found these...

As you can tell, we love pasta. We eat at least two pasta meals a week. But most of these boxes of pasta have been in my pantry for 6 months or so. Why does a family of three need this many boxes of pasta?? I don't even know why I have some of that stuff.

Ok, enough about pasta. Lets move on to what Zachariah has been up to, shall we?

This is our entertainment center. Well, some of it anyway. The only time I really take pictures of our entertainment center is when Zachariah is playing peek-a-boo inside of it, so you will have to work with this incomplete picture.

Take note of the doors. If you look closely you will see that there are two. One of the left and one on the right. Has everyone counted the doors?

Good. Now take a look at this picture of our entertainment center that was taken this morning.

Alright class, can anyone guess what is missing? Yes, you there. Little girl on the front row.

What? You say a door is missing? Why yes. I think you are right!

That would be the handiwork of my son. He decided to use the door as a springboard while watching TV and split the door in half, leaving nothing but the hinges. Fabulous.

When Zachariah is not destroying furniture, he has lately be found "fixing" his bus,

or taking care of his baby.

He has had an attachment with this thing for a few months now, and it is ADORABLE. He will randomly ask to change baby's diaper, he will share his toys with baby and he has even started sharing his paci's! I must admit, it has been very cute watching him interact with this baby doll. :)

Alright, that concludes my rambling updates. What have you guys been up to? Anything new or exciting? I would love to hear what has been going on in the lives of my very few readers. :)

Brief Update

Zachariah has been in a jibberish stage for a while now. Don't get me wrong, he has a list of about a dozen words that he will throw around on a very regular basis, but he loves the jibberish.

Personally, I find it to be one of the most adorable things ever. He will just come up and talk to us (in what seems like another language), and he will be so passionate about what he is saying. I just wish I knew what he was trying to communicate to us!

All that to say, I have been amazed at how much his vocabulary has grown over the past week. Seriously, he has added about ten words to his vocabulary in just a few days. And it isn't like he says it just once... he has incorporated them into his daily schedule. He will go out of his way to find a reason to say "tu-tle" (turtle). It is SO DANG CUTE.

Anyway. I decided to list the words that he has learned and added to his vocab over the past week. If this doesn't interest you, I apologize. But I needed to write this all out so I had a record of it. And what better place to do it than my blog? :)

New words... and a few phrases.

"Pu-ple" (purple)
"Tu-tle" (turtle)
"Ta-tor" (tractor)
"Dumb" (yeah. this one is my fault)
"Basketball" (seriously. he says every letter of this word. this is one of my favorites)
"Et's-doe!" (lets go!)
"Dishis" (delicious)
"Cak-cakes" (pancakes)
"bowl"
"I each" (I can't reach)
"Oo, at's dat?" (Ooo, whats that?)

And on a somewhat related note... Z has been kicking butt with his animal noises. He cannot tell you the name of the animal (except a very select few), but when asked to identify a certain animal, he will do a VERY realistic sounding noise. It has seriously blown me away. His favorite animal noise lately has been an eagle. And if you have ever heard an eagles squawk... well, lets just say I am hoping he moves on to a butterfly noise soon.

I am hoping to video tape some of this, but I have to be sneaky about it. Or else he will just want to watch himself in the video camera. So once I can figure out a plan of action, I will hopefully have some videos up here! :)

New Header and Book Review Thursday

Hello! Before we get to the book review, I just wanted to let everyone know that I have changed a few things around here. My fabulous hubby designed a new header for me, and I have changed from Randomnimity to That's What She Said. (hee hee) I will also be getting a new layout here soon. So don't be alarmed. Its still me. :)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now for our regularly scheduled program.

Today is Thursday. Which means I do a book review on a toddler book. Fun huh? :)

This week's book happens to be one of my favorites.

Oh My Oh My Oh Dinosaurs! by Sandra Boynton. I LOVE Sandra Boynton. I have yet to read a book of hers that I don't like. I am not saying it wont happen, but so far I love everything I have read.

This is one of the few books that I don't mind reading over and over and over again. (Lets face it. Toddlers like repetition) The cute and colorful pages make it entertaining for him, and the clever rhymes make it enjoyable for me.

Here is one of Zachariah's favorite pages. He LOVES to pretend he is cold and hot. He pretty much has motions or actions for each page though. And as usual, its adorable to watch him as we read the book. :)

This is his other favorite page. He likes for Daddy to sing this page to him. Then when Daddy isn't home, mommy makes fun of Daddy singing this page. Hee hee.

So yeah. Buy this book. And if you own any Sandra Boynton books, tell me what they are and if you like them! We would LOVE to add some more of her stuff to our collection of books. :)

Two Things

First off, I wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped with our diaper predicament the other day. We moved him up to a size 5 diaper at night, and we have had NO leaking problems since! He has also stopped waking up during the night as well. So I think we nipped that in the bud. Thanks again to those who commented with suggestions!

Second, I wanted to point out what an idiot I am. Lets look at the post below, shall we? You see the first picture of the ABC book? If you will take a good look, you will notice that my son's name is spelled wrong. That's right. I forgot to put an "h" at the end of his name. Sadly, this is not the first time we have misspelled his name. We also did it on our Christmas card. I really need to pay more attention to what I am doing, especially when I am putting it up on my blog for the whole world to see.

*sigh*

Oh! And shame on those who didn't say anything to me before hand! I had to find out at 3:00 in the morning while at a friends house that I misspelled my sons name on his ABC book. Honestly people, next time I do something that stupid I expect someone to step up and let me know. :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Cured!

Today is my first full day of keeping my newborn nephew. Thankfully Daniel has today off. It has been so wonderful having him here to keep Zachariah occupied. As we speak, Daddy and Z are at the park playing while Collin takes a nap.

The house is quieter than it has been in days. And I am loving every second of it.

And in case you wanted to know, my baby fever is gone. With no trace of it left behind. It is completely exhausting chasing after a toddler while tending to a newborn. I am just glad I don't have the sleepless nights to go along with it. I would be a basket case! I don't know how my parents (who had three kids in three years) did it. So yeah. I am definitely wanting to wait until Zachariah is a bit older before having another one. Getting him potty trained would be nice.

I am going to go watch some mind numbing TV until the baby wakes up. :)
Happy Monday everyone!

A Few Random Things

The past week or so, Zachariah has been SUPER cranky. Which makes mommy cranky. So that equals no fun. Well, I finally realized that he has two teeth coming in (on the top). They have actually already broken though his gum, and I just now noticed. I feel like an idiot. All the signs were there... the drooling, crankiness, shoving everything in his mouth. But I totally missed it. I might be losing my touch. lol. Anyway- that makes the tooth count come to a total of six chompers!

I got my new camera this weekend, and I absolutely love it. It has been a bit difficult to get used to though. I don't even think I have made it all the way through the manual yet! There is just so much to know! And I know it will take practice, but patience is not one of my strong points. So I am trying not to get too discouraged with it. :)

The Notebook has always been my standby for the movie to watch when I need a good cry. But it has now replaced with P.S. I Love You. Every five or ten minuets I had tears streaming down my face. So yeah... I liked it and recommend it if you haven't seen it yet.

Last but not least, I am going to be keeping my newborn nephew starting tomorrow. He had heart surgery when he was 3 weeks old and has recovered WONDERFULLY. I am going to be keeping him until his parents are ready to put him in daycare. So I am VERY excited about that. So I am sure I will be posting some pictures of him in the next few days!

Alright. I think that does it for now!
Hope everyone has a great Super Bowl night!

Stuff

I feel like I need to apologize to my 5 readers out there. I have been kindof slack on my blogging. I just don't think I really have anything substantial to post these days. My life as of late has been consumed with "studying" photography, learning photoshop, stressing about finances, losing (and thankfully finding) my wedding rings, having our new stove installed (more about that later), and watching an endless amount of Elmo's World and The Backyardagins (which is my new favorite cartoon by the way). Along with taking care of my toddler, who has a new favorite hobby that consists of throwing tantrums for no reason whatsoever.

So I am hoping to get back in the game this week. I will be posting some pictures later today, so be on the lookout for my cute kiddo. :)

A Little Better

Yesterday was a better day for Zachariah. He slept wonderfully (which means we did too) and he seems to be more "himself". Dont get me wrong, he is still sick. Runny nose, congestion, cough, diarrhea. You know, the works. But I think the meds are making him feel better. So that's a plus. The only negative is that I am sick. Which makes it a bit more difficult to entertain the active toddler. BUT he has been oh-so-patient with me. He lets me lay on the couch for most of the morning, which is when I feel worst. Then my meds kick in and I can function for the rest of the day. So yeah. That's the update. We have been watching a lot of TV and eating an ungodly amount of soup and animal crackers (and by we, I mean Zachariah). Hopefully the days will continue to get better!

And in other news... after 5 long weeks in hospitals, our little nephew and his family were FINALLY able to come home last night!! They have been through a lot in the last few weeks, with their baby having heart surgery, and we are just so happy to have them home. I cant wait till me and Z get better so we can see them!!

In Other News...

It has been a while since I have posted a "Zachariah update". Since it is long overdue, this will probably be a bit lengthy. So I apologize ahead of time. :)

Age- First things first. He is 15 months old today. I cannot believe he is this old! He has turned into such a fun little toddler. This is SUCH a fun stage! I absolutely love it.

Teeth- The official teeth count is now up to four. Yes. my 15 month old son only has four teeth. So that means that I still have to cut things up into smaller pieces than a typical one year old would be eating. Which is fine, because I have been doing this for a while now. But eventually we need some more teeth in that mouth! :)

Walking- This kid is EVERYWHERE. I am sure you have gathered that from some of my other posts dealing with toilet paper and diapers. So yeah. It keeps things interesting around here to say the least. :)

Communication- Z's vocabulary seems like it is increasing daily. I love it. The words that he says on a regular basis are: bye-bye, ball, momma or mom, dad or dadda, up, this, juice, and penguin (see the next paragraph). His occasional words are: thanks, Daniel (we think this is coincidence, but its still funny), bath, and squirrel (at least its very close to squirrel). He is still doing sign language as well (eat, more, all done, milk, please). And this is by no means sign language, but when he has pooped in his diaper, he will either pat or pull at it, trying to say poop... which is helpful. So between the words and signing, its getting easier to decide what he needs/wants.

Obsessions- Now on to one of my favorite things about my son. He is completely obsessed with penguins. And since penguins are my all time favorite animal, I love that he loves them! He has several penguin stuffed animals, but his all time favorite is Mumble from Happy Feet. Every time he sees it he gets the biggest smile on his face and gives it a huge hug. Its ADORABLE. Whats funny though, is that he calls penguins "ba". Yeah... I don't know. Our guess is that he is trying to say bird. Regardless, he will walk around the house looking for his penguin saying "ba". It cracks me up.

Well, that's about the gist of it. My kid is growing up way to fast. The end. :)
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Quick Update

I don't have a lot of time before Z wakes up, but I wanted to give everyone a quick update on my little monkey.

He took his "first steps" a couple weeks ago. But since he has figured out that we liked him walking, he has stopped. Go figure. He will take a few steps and then look at us and defiantly sit down and crawl. Its actually pretty funny. So for now we are at a stand still (pardon the pun) with the walking. But I will keep you updated when he gets his lazy butt up off the floor. :)

Zachariah has 3 teeth so far (Yes we are slow on that end too, thanks to his Uncle). Two on the bottom and one on top. He has started up the drooling thing again. So I think another one is on its way. The teeth have been a problem for me when I need to fish something out of his mouth that he has shoved in there. I keep forgetting there are teeth in there... until he bites the crap out of my finger.

We have added some new words to our vocabulary. Most of his jabbering sounds like Japanese and I am going to try and get it on video for you all, cause it is hilarious. But his official words have been: momma, dadda, this, ish (fish), that, bye, pease (please), cup, juice, uh-oh and dog. And I swear he said broccoli at dinner a week or so ago. We just cant count it cause he didn't say it twice. :) He is also getting really good at repeating animal sounds and letter sounds to us! (I need to get a video of that too)

Ok, that's it for now. I need to go feed my child breakfast.
Hope everyone has a happy Monday!
