You see this tin box? It is the home of more than a dozen old matchbox cars.
These matchbox cars, to be exact.
My siblings and I played with these same cars when I was growing up. It is one of the many things that I remember vividly from our yearly visits to see my Grandparents.
The cars were actually my Dad's and Uncle's when they were young. Grandma just kept them around for future grand kids. How cool is that?
I'm going to be honest with you. I didn't think their poor little wheels would be able to roll. I mean, they are 50 something years old. But low and behold, they did just fine. And Zachariah was beyond thrilled to play with them.
There is just something completely surreal about my son playing with my dad's old cars.
And there is just something completely adorable about that picture. :)
Absolutely adorable! I particularly like the little toes peeking out of the corner of the first picture. :)
ReplyDeleteAwww, so sweet. I love the sentiment of the cars. Did Grandma Howell let him take them with him???

Oh, those memories from NC! Grandma is going to run out of those old cars if she keeps giving them away! She has had grandkids, now greatgrandkids play with those classic cars of her boys! Your Dad wants to come over and play with them and Zac when you get home!

Raine- I meant to crop that out! But now I kind of like it! :)
ReplyDeleteMrs. Debbie- She did! She gave him two for the road.
Mom- I told her the same thing. But you know how she is. There was no talking her out of it. Tell Dad Z would love to play with him! :)
Keep the toes! They're so darn cute. It's like a little surprise. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll be anxiously waiting for Z to get home with my...er...his cars so we can play! :^)
