Just wanted to give a shout out to my friend Marie who has FINALLY started a blog! She is currently needing some book suggestions, so go over to her neck of the woods and help her out. :)
So how does shouting out work in the blog world? I'm thinking that a shout, by definition, is rather loud. I heard nothing - save my air conditioner pumping out coolness (something I am not lacking in :) - so I really don't get the whole shout out thing. Doesn't the personal touch of welcoming someone get lost in common, repetitive use of the term "shout out" - as if I really want to make you feel like I care, but I don't care enough to think of something to say? Of course, long before the phrase had coinage, I would shout out to my kids regularly "TURN THAT TV OFF AND GO CLEAN YOUR ROOM!!" - those were the good old days.
Anyway, Marie "WELCOME TO THE BLOGUSPHERE" (fyi - caps represents shouting) - take it from a long-time blogger like me, it's really not that hard. In the last couple years, I've posted twice on my page. Nothin to it. :)
Oh, and if you haven't read it yet, I highly recommend "Prepare for Rain" by M.C. Catt - I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Thanks for the shout out!! I needed it.
ReplyDeleteNow I feel like I need to make a shout out on my blog. Thanks a lot Amy Lynn ;)
ReplyDeleteHaha. Sorry about that! :)

Well now that I understand the proper way to give someone a "shout out" via blogspot, I will make sure to use that knowledge for next time.
ReplyDeleteAnd good grief you really do need to update. :)
